Bought a new reel and want some opinions on it
just to throw this out there i do have multiple 4/0s with straight braid that out cast my 4/0s with mono it jus takes getting use to. yes it is wise to run a shock leader since braid has no stretch you can pull alot of hooks right out but it has seem to work for me so im not changing i like the added distance in casting
yeah if you already have the braid put it on man most the beaches i fish here are nice and sandy not shell bottom so break off arent normally a problem unless something runs into your line ie schools of blue fish or macs then your cut off like i said when you get down hit me up might even be able to go out on a friends boat and shark as well jus have to throw in on gas
If you're fishin Indian Shores with it, the bottom there aint too hard on braid. I use straight 200lb Power Pro without a problem. Just gottta remember PP has very little stretch, setting the hook like a wild madman pulls hooks outta the smaller guys when using smaller hooks or circles unless youre using a light drag. (It just hooks skin and you just end out ripping it out.)
That reel can hold 1210 yards of 50 braid.
I would put 500-600 yards of 65 or 50 braid then
top shot of 60-100lb mono around 100-220 yards depending on the line.
that reels only hold 600 yards of 30lb mono.
I would fill it all up with 80-100lb mono Ande and just lock the drag
It depends where you are fishing also.
If its all sand on the bottom just use all braid.
If you have rocks use a top shot of Ande mono
Check this video out maby it will tell you something about braid and rocks.
